The LW500 2-phase decanter centrifuge is specifically optimized for the corn starch industry, providing high-efficiency starch washing, concentration, and dewatering in a continuous process. All product contact parts are manufactured from food-grade SUS304 stainless steel, ensuring compliance with international food safety standards including HACCP and FDA requirements.

Application in Corn Starch Processing

In the corn wet milling process, the decanter centrifuge plays a critical role in:

  • Starch Washing: Removing soluble impurities and protein from starch slurry after primary separation
  • Starch Concentration: Thickening starch slurry from 18-22°Bé to 38-42°Bé before dewatering
  • Gluten Dewatering: Separating and dewatering corn gluten for animal feed production
  • Fiber Washing: Recovering entrained starch from corn fiber fraction

Working Principle

The horizontal bowl and internal screw conveyor rotate at high speed with a controlled differential speed. Starch slurry enters continuously through the feed tube and is distributed evenly into the bowl. Under centrifugal force, the denser starch solids are forced against the bowl wall and compacted, while the lighter liquid phase (containing solubles and fine protein) overflows through adjustable weir plates. The screw conveyor continuously pushes the concentrated starch cake toward the conical discharge end.
